“We are all vulnerable in love. We are more emotionally naked with those we love and sometimes, inevitably, we hurt each other with careless words or actions.”

Partnering thru diversity

Coming together requires courage. All unions hold value and deserve to thrive.  By fully honoring our differences we can more deeply connect.

Each partnership interweaves its own unique subculture – consciously & subconsciously – reflecting internalized norms, new ways of being, shared hopes, language and play.  We stay by your side – drawing out strengths, clarifying boundaries, inviting repair and inspiring creativity.

Emotion Focused Therapy

Emotion Focused Therapy is an evidence based approach rooted in the understanding that accessing and sustaining awareness of emotion is key to transforming our sense of self and our relationships.  Growing emotionally and strengthening bonds is core to being a fully developed human being.  By tracking and teaming up against defensive cycles EFT helps couples:

  • Feel closer emotionally and physically.
  • Harness conflict as opportunities to deepen connection.
  • Voicing unspoken needs that may be sabotaging your relationship.
  • Repattern harmful dynamics causing rupture and distance from your partner.
  • Co-create ways to feel, communicate, touch and play that can nourish your love over time.

Transformative Couples Therapy

Amplify your love.  TCT builds capacity to experience the felt experience of love more fully, so that love becomes a guiding light for purposeful action in daily living and relating. Some examples of relational issues:

  • Feeling Stuck: Changing Patterns
  • Premarital Therapy: Laying the Groundwork for Relationship Resilence
  • Overcoming Infidelity: From Shock, Fury and Despair to a Fresh New Beginning
  • Hot and Cold Conflict

FAQs

Individual clinician’s fee schedule varies depending on the type of treatment (individual adult, couples, child/teen, or family) and on session length (45 or 60 minutes). Out-of-network costs range from $189 to $325 per session, with most out-of-network insurances covering 50%-80%, depending on the plan.

Each therapist has a limited number of sliding scale slots, most often scheduled in the 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. time window, which are assigned at the therapist’s discretion. The intake session is slightly higher (+$50) due to the extended length and review of intake documents.

Fees are typically paid online by credit card overnight following the session.

After your first session we provide a clear, easy to read superbill including all the codes needed to submit directly to your insurance.

Like many private practices in NYC, The Collaborative is an out-of-network provider. Meaning we do not accept insurance directly. However, we actively support clients who have out-of-network insurance coverage to secure reimbursement by generating a superbill which you can submit for reimbursement.

We encourage you to contact your insurance company directly to assess the cost before beginning treatment. It is very helpful to ask your insurance company the following questions:

  • Do I have out of network coverage for mental health?
  • What is my out of network deductible?
  • What are the reimbursement rates for individual therapy CPT code 90834 or couples/family therapy 90847 in zipcode 10012.
